Picture Your Parks

Picture your parks photo contest.We are looking for your waterftont parks photos, either historic or new, since the parks were founded 100 years ago.

Start looking through your family albums and Grandma’s trunk to find those treasures of family celebrations, city events or landscape images that convey the history of our waterfront parks--or spend a day in the parks creating new images!

During the 2010 year-long celebration, the best images will be displayed as part of a “traveling” exhibit that will be publicly shown in many venues and locations throughout Saint Petersburg. Also, many of the photos will be available for viewing on the Centennial Celebration website.

Eligible photographs must have been created in one of these parks: Albert Whitted Park, Al Lang Stadium (including parking lot and Saturday Market), Pioneer Park, Demens Landing Park, Spa Beach Park, North & South Straub Parks, Vinoy Park, North Shore Park, Elva Rouse Park, Gizella Kopsick Palm Arboretum. Flora Wylie Park.

Chosen images will be displayed as part of a “traveling” exhibit that will be publicly shown in many venues and locations throughout Saint Petersburg. Also, many of the photos will be available for viewing on the Centennial Celebration website.

Black and white or color photographs should be scanned at 100% and digital images should be at their original size, or no larger than 5 megs.

Only standard color, tone, density, contrast, burning and dodging can be applied to digital images. Images should be submitted in JPG (using the high quality setting). Your name, the park where the image was taken, along with the year it was taken and sequence number should appear on each image.

Maximum of 10 images per person may be submitted. These images will not be returned.

By submitting your entry, you agree that Saint Petersburg Preservation and the Centennial Celebration Steering Committee may reproduce, exhibit or print for display your image to benefit historic preservation in Saint Petersburg.
